Yallourn Transition Program

Supporting the people who powered Victoria for a century

A Responsible Transition. A Commitment to our People.

Launched in November 2022, the $10 million Yallourn Transition Program was co-designed with input from more than 500 workers and unions, ensuring the program reflects the real needs, aspirations and lived experience of the Yallourn workforce.

Recognised internationally, including by the World Business Council for Sustainable Development as a leading example of a “just transition”, the program gives workers structured, personalised support ahead of closure, enabling early retraining and long‑term career planning.

With seven years advanced notice and a plan for closure, EnergyAustralia is demonstrating how closure can be done well.

Current Yallourn workers can access full Transition Program details, resources, make bookings and submit requests through the secure Transition Website. To request access, click below.

A Just Transition for the Latrobe Valley

A fair energy transition means supporting not only workers but the region that has powered the state for generations. EnergyAustralia continues to invest in the Latrobe Valley’s next chapter, including:

  • $700 million Wooreen Battery Energy Storage System, creating new local jobs

  • Yallourn Energy Security Precinct, we are exploring transformative energy developments that will continue to position our region at the forefront of Victoria’s energy future.

  • Long‑standing partnerships with local schools, TAFE Gippsland and Federation University providing scholarships, internships and resources for students

  • More than $800,000 invested in community groups, local sport, environmental restoration and emergency services since 2021

Together, these investments reflect our commitment to a thriving, future‑focused Latrobe Valley.
